Hello all! It seems so quiet in this corner. Are there any other English speaking mamas around? We live in Germany and I start to slowly learn the language, but I am too far away yet and cannot really participate in the other discussions, I can only read them (with a dictionary )

So anybody who would keep me company in here?

Yes, actually I have (5 years and counting)... Pretty silly of me not to find the time to learn German, isn't it? But working 50-60 hours a week (in English speaking environment) doesn't leave much time for other things really. Now I am making an effort but it is not the easiest language to learn!

Oh, I know precisely what that's like. Well, my husband does, rather. He came here in 2005 and he's still taking classes off and on to try and get a grasp of this wicked language. He also works in an English speaking environment and works incredibly long hours - doesn't leave much room (or energy) to deal with that. He's taking a course again just now (through work). I think it's soooo cute when he speaks German, though. We only speak English to each other (and Soph), too, so I suppose that doesn't help much, either. Whereabouts in Germany are you located?

I am a German in England and my husband still does not speak a lot of German. He is slowly learning and understanding more thanks to our son who is trying to teach him though my dh will not speak (at least not in front of me).

I am originally from Berlin.

My hubby tries to learn since almost 15 years and speaks some kinder deutsch He speaks it better without me around, we speak Englisch at home.
